A few days back, I and my relatives planned for a tour to celebrate new year party. But for my reasons, I can’t able to attend the party because of my accident. My relatives had a great new year bash ever before and I really felt sad for my situation. After the party, they started sharing photos on their facebook, and my news feed flooded with thousands of images of the event I wasn’t part of it.
I muted my WhatsApp group for a week and wanted to do the same with my facebook account. But the only option I have is to unfollow them which I don’t want to do. Then I heard about Facebook snooze option.
Facebook is testing snooze option from sept 2017 and it’s live now. Most of the Facebook users are not aware of this tech update Facebook is actually giving more control on our news feed.
Facebook generally updates with new features in it. But not all updates are useful. Few updates will definitely make their own mark. Snooze option belongs to this kind.
Unlike other options in Facebook, Snooze option allows more control on our Facebook news feed. Snooze option allows you to unfollow a person, page or a group for 30 days by selecting the top right drop down box.
Facebook will be notified just before the Snooze period is about to end, If you want to resume the same you can extend it for next 30 days. You can also reverse the setting at any time.
Here is the video for you how this Snooze option works out in real time. Just have a look on it.
Facebook had few complaints from people that, they want more options to determine what they want to see in News Feed and when they want to see it. With Snooze, you don’t have to unfollow or unfriend permanently, rather just stop seeing someone’s posts for a short period of time.
If you can’t access Snooze option yet, it’s because the rollout process is still ongoing. Facebook says it should appear as an option for everyone before the end of the week.
See you with next Tech Update
